Phillips 66 Limited Humber Refinery has awarded Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) a contract to design a pre-treatment process for flue gas as part of plans for a new carbon capture facility.

The Humber Zero project was pleased to see the recent shortlist announcement, from UK Government, on the Phase-2 Cluster Sequencing for Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS).

Today the UK Government announced the projects shortlisted for Carbon Capture deployment under the Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Phase-2 Cluster Sequencing for carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) deployment.

A major carbon capture project which aims to prevent millions of tonnes of industrial carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from being released into the atmosphere as greenhouse gas has published lessons learnt from its early development phase with the aim of helping other similar projects now being developed.

Yesterday, over 250 local and UK suppliers and contractors gathered to hear about the potential supply chain opportunities available as part of the Humber Zero project. The day welcomed suppliers of equipment, materials, fabrication and construction services.

The Humber Zero project has been published in The Times ‘Future of Energy’ Report. Our project has the potential to support the Humber Region to reduce up to 3.8 million tonnes of CO2 by 2028, protect local jobs and level up the region.

Suppliers of equipment, materials, fabrication and construction services looking to be a part of a £1.2 billion carbon capture project on the south bank of the Humber in North Lincolnshire are being invited to sign up for a supply chain engagement day later this month to find out more.

Shell Catalysts & Technologies has been appointed to provide the technology that will capture millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the VPI Immingham combined heat and power station (CHP) as part of Humber Zero.

Humber Zero, a pioneering project to significantly reduce levels of greenhouse gas emissions from key industries in the UK’s Humber region, will move one step closer to realisation following the appointment of global engineering services company Worley to deliver a critical phase of the project for VPI.

An ambitious new target to cut carbon emissions announced by the Prime Minister has been welcomed by Humber Zero. Boris Johnson’s new climate plan under the Paris Agreement would see the UK reducing greenhouse gases by at least 68% on 1990 levels.

Humber Zero, a ground-breaking green project that will protect thousands of Humber Bank jobs, has moved a step closer after securing significant Government funding. The £1.2-billion Humber Zero project will invest an initial £25-million in developing technology to capture and safely store carbon emitted by the Immingham industrial cluster, radically reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

A global festival focused on solutions to fast-track industrial decarbonisation will hear about Humber Zero’s progress and ambitions. Project director Jonathan Briggs has been invited to address the three-day Decarb Connect Digital Festival.It will bring together industrialists, investors, policy makers, game-changing technologies and innovators. The event aims to inspire stakeholders to rise to the net zero challenge.

Support has been given by Humber Zero to a plan setting out the region’s decarbonisation journey. The Humber Cluster Plan was awarded a £1.7-million Government grant today after a bid by Humber Local Enterprise Partnership and local training and support agency CATCH.

Two days of insight and debate on carbon capture and storage starts online tomorrow (Wednesday) at CCUS 2020, chaired by Humber Zero Project Director Jonathan Briggs. Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth The Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP and Scotland’s Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands Paul Wheelhouse MSP are among the speakers tomorrow (1st).

Vitol has appointed Jonathan Briggs as Project Director for its Humber Zero decarbonisation project at VPI Immingham, its 1.2GW combined heat and power plant (CHP) in North Lincolnshire.
